PhotoViewer help: PIN, iCloud and Plus

Answers about setup, PIN protection, photos, iCloud, PhotoViewer Plus and purchases.

How do I set up PhotoViewer?

  1. Open PhotoViewer and allow access to the photos you want to display.
  2. Choose the media filter and iCloud rule in protected settings.
  3. Replace the default PIN 0000 with a personal four- or six-digit PIN.
  4. For an especially protected experience, enable Apple Guided Access. Step-by-step instructions are available inside the app.

Which language does PhotoViewer use?

PhotoViewer uses German when the iPhone language is German and English for every other device language. Under Settings → Language → App Language, choose Automatic, German or English.

Why are no photos or videos displayed?

PhotoViewer reads media from the Apple Photos library. If an item exists only in iCloud, loading depends on the selected network rule and the current connection.

If no media appears, check Photo access, the media filter, allowed albums for the active profile and the iCloud setting.

How is the parent area protected?

Settings and profile switching are protected. The direct Info button on the start screen intentionally remains public so support and privacy information are accessible without the PIN.

After five incorrect PIN entries, a temporary lock applies. A forgotten PIN can be replaced after confirmation with Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode.

Is PhotoViewer Plus a subscription?

No. Plus is a one-time in-app purchase with no subscription. The seven-day trial ends automatically and causes no charge. Profiles and Plus settings remain saved after expiry but stay locked until purchase.

An enabled usage duration closes the media viewer when time runs out. Parents can then allow more time after protected confirmation.

How do I restore PhotoViewer Plus?

Open PhotoViewer Plus and choose “Restore purchases”. Use the same Apple Account as for the original purchase. TestFlight and sandbox transactions are not real charges.
